Where music becomes your voice
About the Studio
At Amie's Academy, we believe every student already has music inside them β they just need the right guide to help them find it. Located in Apex, North Carolina, our studio offers a warm, encouraging space where children and adults discover their musical voice at their own pace.
Whether you're a complete beginner picking up a horn for the first time, or a returning player ready to reconnect with piano, our lessons are built around you β your goals, your style, your musical journey.
With over a decade of experience as a school band director, Amie brings both professional musicianship and genuine patience to every lesson. She's worked with students of all ages and ability levels β from complete beginners to those preparing for college auditions.
"The moment a student plays their first real song β you can see it in their face. That feeling of 'I did it.' That's why I teach."
Meet Your Teacher
Band Director Β· Piano & Brass Instructor
Music has been Amie's life's work β and her greatest joy. After years as a school band director, she founded Amie's Academy to give students the individual attention and encouragement that classroom settings can't always provide.
As a band director, Amie learned how to lead ensembles, mentor young musicians, and adapt her teaching to meet each student where they are. That experience shaped her philosophy: music education isn't one-size-fits-all. The best lessons happen when a teacher truly listens to their student.
Whether teaching a 7-year-old their first piano scale, helping a teenager nail a difficult trumpet audition, or guiding an adult through a piece they've dreamed of playing for years β Amie brings the same patience, passion, and professionalism to every lesson.
Her own musical journey spans classical training, brass performance, and a deep love of jazz and contemporary styles. She believes students should play music that speaks to them β not just music that's "correct."
When she's not teaching, Amie enjoys performing, composing, and finding new ways to inspire the next generation of musicians in the Apex community and beyond.
"Live life in harmony. Find an expressive voice that is both beautiful and unique."
The Amie's Academy Difference
Every student learns differently. We move at your pace β no pressure, no comparison. Just steady, joyful progress week by week.
Music isn't about perfection β it's about expression. We help each student develop a personal, expressive relationship with their instrument.
From first notes to school band auditions, recitals, and beyond β we set clear goals and work together to reach them.

"Amie is incredibly patient with my son who has ADHD. She found ways to keep him engaged that I never would have thought of. Best investment we've made."
"I've been taking adult piano lessons with Amie for 8 months. I never thought I'd be playing actual songs at my age. She's an amazing teacher."
